Sophie and The Glitter Roots
I remember when I first heard of and saw pictures of glitter roots. It was love at first sight! And I also knew that I just HAD to use it in a photo shoot...somehow...But the bigger question was, who was going to voluntarily allow me to out glitter in their hair?
Luckily, I knew the exact person who would! My friend Sophie has been my photography muse since I began taking pictures! And sheβs been a great sport about it too! With any crazy idea Iβve had, sheβs always been open and willing to help me fulfill those dreams--no matter how crazy, ha ha!
It took a while to do her hair. A lot of teasing, some braiding, and, of course, THE GLITTER! To make her glitter roots, I mixed up some clear hair gel with a few different colors of glitter plus some star confetti. Although, after the shoot was over, Sophie had a really hard time cleaning out her hair. Like, a really hard time. To the point where I almost had to come over and help her clean it out. Donβt worry, she ended up getting on her own! But while she was panicking, naturally I began to google some solutions. Pro tip: When doing glitter roots, use vaseline instead of gel. And if you do use gel, you can use coconut or olive oil to help clear up your hair!
Once when she was all glammed up, we were ready to go! I grabbed the props I needed, and then we headed over to my grandmaβs house. Which I actually use her house quite frequently for photo sessions! Sheβs supportive, but sheβs always worried about my clients. When she gets to meet them after each session, she never fails to ask each of them if I made them do anything crazy (which, to be fair, I sometimes do). Aside from getting to see my grandma, she has a few cats that like to hang out and follow us around. Sophie loved it though, and we were able to incorporate them into some of the shots!
I am just so happy and thrilled with how this session turned out! Everything from the styling and props we used, to the cats joining us and grandma giving us some ice cream afterwards!
